The Aldila Quaranta shafts are light weigh only, reminding me of the Ultra Light Mitsubishi Bassara shafts. So many other shaft designs have been extended down to the 50 gram range that I have moved away from fitting with Ultra Light models. The tip stiffness and torque of the Sapphire are impressive.

The second camera was out of focus, but the discussion of the Aldila products was to good to ignore. The Quaranta discussion starts at the 4:40 mark. The discussion highlights some aspects of these shafts that you should here before we move on to the numbers.

The Rogue Silver 130 is the latest version of a profile that goes back to some of my earliest measurements. The profile has had great tour success as the Aldila Tour Green. Lets take a look at the Silver 130 MSI profile and then compare it to earlier versions of this design.

Aldila Synergy Blue Golf Shaft Review

Aldila Synergy Blue Driver Shaft Review

The 2018 Aldila Synergy is the first golf shaft I know of to incorporate Graphene. What exactly does this material, that is one atom thick bring, to golf shafts. I looked it up at Wikipedia and learned that it earned its early researchers a Nobel Prize in 2010. Golf is not the first sports application, Head put in into tennis rackets in 2015. They are played by the worlds best tennis players. The racket reviews tell us that they bring new levels of stability to the racket frame.

Aldila XTorsion Golf Shaft Review

Aldila XTorsion Copper & XTorsion Green  Shaft Review

The Aldila Xtorsion driver shaft have a clearly visible woven material in the lower half of the shafts. Aldila calls the material, MAMBA, Multi-Axial Material Bias Angle technology. It is woven at a 45 degree angle which provides torsional stability to the lower half of the shaft where it is most important. This can be seen in the GJ or torsional profile of the shafts. The GJ profile tips downward from the mid section to the tip. I also see high and stable hoop strength resulting from the woven material. This is similar to the woven section of the Mitsubishi Tensei Pro shafts that is located just below the grip. When I look at the Xtorsion Copper EI profile I am reminded of the very popular EI profile of the Nippon Modus 120’s.

Aldila Rogue Elite Golf Driver Shaft Review

Aldila Rogue Elite Shaft Review, Green, Blue & Orange

The Aldila Rogue Elite Golf Shaft is a fitting series only available through Aldila Authorized Club Guilders. They are much the same design and material as the Aldila Rogue shafts. The difference is that each of the three shafts was designed for a specific launch propensity. The Aldila Tru-Fit System is a matrix of 18 shafts, 2 weights, 3 flexes and 3 launch designs.

Aldila offers a precision fitting guide with the system discussing each zone of the shaft as follows:
Tip Section = Launch   Stiffer = Higher Launch  –  Softer = Lower Launch
Mid Section = Spin   Stiffer = Lower Spin  –  Softer = Higher Spin
Butt Section = Feel  Stiffer = Stiffer Feel –  Softer = Softer Feel

Below each image are the zone stiffness numbers provided by Aldila

rogue-elite-orange-image Aldila Rogue Elite Orange   –   Mid Launch Tip 7 – Mid 7 – Butt 7

Lets take a look at the EI profiles of these shafts and see how the Fit2Score measurements align with the Aldila numbers.

This is a great way for a shaft company to participate in the golf gear market that now focuses on fitting. There is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding the intent and design of driver shafts. It is good to have a shaft manufacturer guide the fitter and provide a designed fitting matrix. Nice work Aldila, thank you.
