ACCRA shafts are sold exclusively to custom club fitters and builders. The TZ models are an evolution of the Tour Z series. The TZ5 and TZ6 incorporate the latest high modulus materials. High modulus materials have a muted feel. Solid strikes deliver a lower frequency thud to your hands in contrast to the higher frequency click typical of lower density pre-preg.

ACCRA Tour Z RPG 400 Golf Shaft Review

ACCRA Tour Z RPG 400 Golf Shaft Review

ACCRA added a new profile to the Tour Z RPG in 2018. The Tour Z RPG is a lower launch version of the Tour Z RPG 300 reviewed last year. This video, shot at ACCRA day at the PGA merchandise has Ken Thompson of ACCRA explaining the RPG shafts to the club fitters gathered there.

ACCRA has moved some of their manufacturing to a Japanese foundry. The Tour Z RPG is a made in Japan product. It uses high modulus materials with the lowest resin content of any ACCRA shaft. A new material with a quad weave runs the entire length of the shaft. The 4 Tour Z RPG 400 shafts have consistent bend profiles. Fitters can work to find your proper weight and flex knowing each of these shaft have exactly the same bend properties. The radial consistency was 99.3% with a 0.5% standard deviation. They are round.

ACCRA Tour Z RPG Golf Shaft Review

ACCRA Tour Z RPG Golf Shaft Review

ACCRA Tour Z RPG imageThe 2017 ACCRA Tour Z RPG has a unique profile. A number of recent shaft designs have featured what I refer to as super soft mid sections. Soft mid shafts are the most popular and most widely used shafts by most golfers. A few years ago a number of super soft midsection shafts came to the market. I found them to be great fits for golfers with neutral to negative angle of attacks. The Tour Z RPG sits in a middle ground between the traditional soft mid and the super soft mid designs. And in this video shot at the 2017 PGA merchandise show, Gawain Robertson explains the shaft at the 3:25 mark.

The ACCRA Tour Z has been a staple in the ACCRA product line. The Tour Z Extreme is an updated version, using higher density prepreg and Kevlar in the tip. There are two models designed to compliment each other. The Tour ZX 400 series exhibits a profile known to produce a mid launch low spin. The TourZx 200 Series is typical of a higher launch higher spin design. The stiffness is very consistent across weights. The shafts do not get noticeably stiffer as they get heavier. Paring the TourZx 200 in a fairway with a TourZx 400 in a driver creates a great combination for most golfers. A more penetrating lower spinning drive and a higher launching, higher spinning flight in a fairway.

The discussion between Woody Lashen, a long time Fit2Score Affiliate and Gawain Robertson, do owner of ACCRA golf gets to the TourZ at the 10:30 mark. It was shot at the 2016 PGA merchandise show.

The profiles are consistent with earlier designs. The TourZx 200 series resembles the earlier Tour Z LS. The TourZx 400 is much like the TourZ ST. This is quite common, remaking a design that was successful with new materials. [/restrict]

The ACCRA Concept Series started in 2014 with the ACCRA Concept CS1 which is now called the Concept Series 300. The Concept CS1 was the first shaft I can recall from ACCRA  that was produced in a Japanese foundry. With it ACCRA shafts deliver the ultra premium shaft quality seen in high end Japanese golf shafts. The ACCRA Concept Series 400 is a variation of the Series 300 design aimed at reducing launch and spin.

This discussion of ACCRA shafts was shot at the 2016 PGA Merchandise show.

Lets take a look at the shaft measurements.
