The Kai’li Dark Waves series of shafts is included in the 2025 TaylorMade Custom Shaft Options catalog as a no upcharge shaft. The Kai’li name goes back to to my early days of shaft profiling. When it was used as part of the Diamana model family I recognized as a Blue Archetype. Over the years the name was reused in 2023 with White, Blue and Red models. I have limit access to the new Dark Wave Kai’li models from the TaylorMade shaft options catalog which will be expanded as missing models arrive. Rather than posting separate reviews for each model I will cover the White, CB, Fairway and Hybrid models is this overview.

Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid Golf Shaft Review

Mitsubishi MMT Hybrid Golf Shaft Review

The Mitsubishi MMT Model Golf Shaft is available for Hybrid, Iron, Wedge and Putter. This review will focus on the hybrid shafts. We have seen carbon fiber shafts with outer wraps of stainless steel wire, here we have a shaft with an inner wrap. The Metal mesh technology is only in the tip of the shaft. This is not the first time Mitsubishi has integrated metal into their shaft prepreg. I have fond memories of the TINI wire used in the KuroKage shafts. Mitsubishi tells us the metal mesh added weight without having to add material which would have change the balance of the shafts. And like the TINI wire, the mesh adds a responsive straighten to the shaft.

The Modus3 Tour 115 shaft is now available with the standard Modus3 chrome finish and is in the 2022 Mizuno fitting cart. We now have Nippon Modus3 shafts in 5 weights, 105, 115, 120, 125 and 130. It is important to note that these are more than simple weight options of the same design. The Modus3 120 and the Modus3 130 are radically different designs.

The Mitsubishi Tensei pro 1K Orange is the second shaft model using the thinner Carbon Kevlar woven material just below he grip. The tip is Mitsubishi Chemical’s MR70 that is claimed to be stronger and more elastic than typical carbon fiber materials.

LA Golf L Series Iron Shaft Review

LA GOLF L-Series Taper Iron Golf Shaft Review

Many players with wrist and forearm pain look to carbon fiber shaft to dampen the ball strike shock wave. However most carbon fiber shafts are not available in the weight range they have always played. And very few carbon fiber iron shafts are 0.355 taper tip, constant weight sets.

The LA Golf L series is a heavy constant weight set with the stiffness we would expect in the 120 gram weigh range.
