ACCRA TZ is the second generation of the ACCRA TZ design reviewed several years ago. The new generation has lost a few grams. And 50 gram shafts have been added to the product line.

The Aldila Rogue driver shafts have now all been reissued with 130 MSI prepreg. The Aldila website informs us that Mitsubishi Chemical fiber and prepreg is used exclusively in the shaft. Mitsubishi acquired Aldila several years ago. Aldila and Mitsubishi are one of the few brands, perhaps the only brand, in the business to produce the materials their shafts are made with. Lets look at the EI profiles.

ACCRA shafts are sold exclusively to custom club fitters and builders. The TZ models are an evolution of the Tour Z series. The TZ5 and TZ6 incorporate the latest high modulus materials. High modulus materials have a muted feel. Solid strikes deliver a lower frequency thud to your hands in contrast to the higher frequency click typical of lower density pre-preg.

ACCRA is now owned by True Sports. True Sports was formerly known at True Temper. For the past several years, the owners of ACCRA through their distribution company, PGMC have been the distributors of True Temper shafts to golf fitters.

PGMC runs the Performance Fitting Center certification program.for True Temper. The owners of ACCRA have a long history in golf shaft production and golf club fitting. The company is dedicated to professional golf club fitters. Their products are developed from feedback from the top golf club fitters in the world.

The ACCRA TZ line incorporates high modulus material into the Tour Z design. The EI profiles of the ACCRA TZ6 hybrids are much the same as the ACCRA TZ driver designs.

The Nippon Modus3 Hybrid is a new style shaft from Nippon. There is a layer of Composite material over a steel shaft. When you look closely, you can see and feel the steps in the steel shaft. I have been told it has been on tour for over a year. About 30 are in play every week. That is typical of Nippon’s approach to introducing new shafts.

There are two models of the 2020 EvenFlow Riptide driver shaft from TrueTemper. One is noted CB for counter balanced. As I have seen many times, counter balancing has more effect on the shaft profile that it will have on the balance of a driver. Lets take a look at the profiles of the two models.
