The Project X IO was released in 2020 with the Project X LS and shares the new True Temper look of a matte brushed chrome finish. It is in the same weight range as the discontinued Project X PXi but has a different EI profile. It is lighter and has a low tip to butt stiffness ratio to promote a higher launch.

The True Temper Project X LS released in 2020 has the look of the original Royal Precision Project X, it is stepless and it has a brushed finish. This is the first steel shaft I can recall from TrueTemper with a brushed finish. Unlike chrome, a brushed finish is matte, dispersing reflections. it is a great looking shaft made to very high quality and consistency standards. Lets take a close look at it and compare the LS version to the Project X.

There are two models of the 2020 EvenFlow Riptide driver shaft from TrueTemper. One is noted CB for counter balanced. As I have seen many times, counter balancing has more effect on the shaft profile that it will have on the balance of a driver. Lets take a look at the profiles of the two models.

Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green Golf Shaft Review

Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green Golf Shaft Review

The HZRDUS Smoke Green is the third design in the Smoke series. With the HZRDUS Smoke Black and the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow, it completes a fitting set. The HZRDUS Smoke Green is the first shaft from TrueTemper to use a new material, Hexcel’s HexTow HN63. It is lighter yet stiffer than previous material.

When I first wrote this review I did not notice that some of the shafts were marked with a very small TX below the stiffness number. This caused some confusion that resolved when the non TX 6,5 shafts arrived.

The TX versions are different EI profiles. They have much firmer midlsections.
