The UST Mamiya Recoil Dart ESX is my first iron shaft review in 2025. Review samples came from a major brand that offers them as a small upcharge. An option well worth the investment if you are considering carbon fiber shafts in your irons. It has been a long time since I looked at UST Recoils. I had a relationship with UST when they introduced the idea that hoop deformation added to club head speed. Unfortunately at about that time I began documenting hoop deformation and could not see much difference between the recoil and other carbon fiber shafts. And certainly not any similarity to steel shafts. That is no longer the case. As you will see below, the hoop deformation profile of the recoil is unique.

Fujikura Ventus TR Blue Fairway Shaft Review

Fujikura Ventus TR Blue FW Driver Shafts Review

There are so many versions of the Fujikura Ventus shafts it is exceedingly difficult to sort them out. What I have noticed with this shaft is the TR logo is on a silver background. Most TR logos are against a gold background. This chart is a comparison of the 6S shaft’s hoop deformation of the silver TR and the gold TR. The original woven carbon which Fujikura calls TOW creates a significant reduction of hoop deformation and an increase in strength of the shaft where it is applied. The silver background TR does not and one can only assume it is a marketing graphic only. These shafts do not contain the same weave applied in the premium versions of the Ventus TR shafts.

The Mitsubishi Tensei AV Limited Shaft is available as a stock shaft in the 2024 TaylorMade Oi10 Drivers and Fairways. While most of my reviews are for premium shafts, many want to know about the standard shafts in off the rack drivers. There are three versions of the shaft, Blue, Fairway and White. The each is modeled on the classic Mitsubishi archetypes.

Mitsubishi Diamana WB Golf Shaft Review

The Diamana WB returns the white board profile closer the the first few generations than I saw is the last version, the Diamana W. I see a profile that is almost identical to the Tensei Pro White 1K.
